Dozens of the world’s leaders in oil and gas gathered to hear how new simulator technology is helping the sector substantially reduce costs, while improving safety.
More than 50 industry leaders attended a technology presentation by our regional director for Drilling Systems, Jim Krupa, at the Newfoundland and Labrador Oil and Gas Industries Association (Noia) Conference to learn how new simulator developments are transforming performance in the field.
The presentation used real-life case studies to demonstrate how simulators are helping shave hundreds of thousands of dollars off operational drilling costs, as well as helping to reduce non-productive time and rig delays.

Following the talk, a question and answer session revealed technology uptake and digitalisation remains high on the agenda with the focus on digital twin technology and DWOS (drill the well on a simulator). Both technologies enable challenging drilling to be done virtually before embarking on the real thing.
