Meet the Team – Aaron Bolch

Can you give an insight into your career history and background?

I am an Engineer by training but always enjoyed interactive engagements with clients. I received my B.S. degree from the University of Oklahoma in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Business Management.

I began my career as an R&D engineer with Weatherford working with in the Casing Drilling and Thru-tubing motors group with more than 1 tier 1 project ongoing during my time.

I moved to Expro as and engineer in a product sales team support global clients with the development, project management and sale of equipment for all phases of the well testing package on newly drilled and redeveloped wells. I then moved to Proceanic and F2 Flare Systems concurrently and held multiple roles including project engineer, project manager and was seconded into the business development role during my time.  We support clients with individual engineering secondments, package engineering development, onsite engineering support and eventually, specialized tank and vessel inspections services with the use of a video-ray ROV.

I was then recruited away to join InterMoor (an Acteon Company) as a Business Development Manager focused on clients in the Houston area supporting them in temporary mooring design and installation, permanent mooring design and installation as well as fabrication of mooring piles and other subsea structures.

I then moved over to a sister company to revive a struggling Americas region at Aquatic.  There I served as the Business Development Manger for all of the Americas delivering bespoke and standard back deck solutions for offshore installations in the flex-lay industry.

What attracted you to join Drilling Systems?

I was drawn to Drilling Systems because the technology was exciting and different from my background.  This gave me an opportunity to expand my knowledge of the industry and learn something new.  I am a student at heart and enjoy the challenge of learning something new.  Additionally, the wider 3t offering signalled a good opportunity for me to explore expansion in the region for the entire group.  While this presents challenges it certainly offers opportunities to grow and support development and planning of this region and how to best support the clients here.

How do you plan to use your knowledge and experience to contribute to Drilling System’s development across the US?

With several years of technical background, I plan to work with our clients both on a technical and personal level to ensure we are correctly bidding and evaluating what clients need and want.  With a near equal amount of time working in sales and business development, my goal is to grow our region and presence in the US and North American market.

What are your goals for the region and how do they contribute to Drilling System’s development plans?

My goal is to sustain our presence as the leader in the simulation market through building and sustaining current client relationships but also expand our simulation range of offerings to encompass new markets and clients.

What is the best piece of advice you’ve received in your career?

I’ve been given two pieces I find tough to always do but invaluable.

  • You have two ears and one mouth, use them in proportion to each other. Listen well and carefully.
  • Always be prepared for a meeting with all the information you need or don’t schedule one. People time is important to them so don’t waste it.
