Did you know it is now mandatory for transient workers or contractors to have a Connected Competence certificate to show you are technically competent before you can mobilise for work?
The ‘Connected Competence’ scheme has been developed by many of the biggest names in the engineering construction industry including Wood, Bilfinger, PBS, Worley, Aker Solutions and Stork, in conjunction with the ECITB, to standardise the base level of technical competence within the industry.
Workers need to successfully complete a technical test before being issued with a Connected Competence certificate and digital badge to demonstrate they can work safely to a recognised and accepted base level of competence before they will be mobilised to work.
The employer-led initiative came into effect from April 2022 and is now mandatory.
If you’re one of those who needs to complete these competency tests, your employer will have written to you and issued you a fully-funded voucher to redeem against taking the tests.
But time is running out! Your test must be booked in and completed before the end of June! After that, you will need to pay a fee to complete the tests.
Beth Cowen, Quality Lead at AIS Survivex, said:
“Almost 3,000 vouchers have been issued to the workforce. It’s really important that anyone who needs a Connected Competence certificate moves fast to ensure they don’t miss out on the funding available.
“A handful of training providers around the UK are approved to deliver these tests. Both our Aberdeen and Newcastle sites are ‘Supercentres’ offering ‘Connected Competence’ tests. We have lots of test availability over the coming months.
We can test for Scaffolding, Rigging, Pipefitting, Plating, Thermal Insulation, Electrical Maintenance, Electrical Installation, and Industrial Coatings. Our examiners are the best in the business and will guide you through the process.”
