3t Drilling Systems Secures Major Contract with Oil India Limited, Expanding its Presence in South Asia with Advanced Simulator Technology

3t, a UK-headquartered leader in safety-critical training for the energy sector and other high-risk industries, continues to pioneer immersive drilling technology in India with a newly secured contract from Oil India Limited to provide advanced simulator technology to aid and enhance its workforce training.

The world number one drilling and well control simulation technology provider, 3t Drilling Systems, part of global training and digital learning powerhouse 3t, will deliver its DrillSIM:5000 Classic with enhanced capabilities for well intervention and Cyber Models to Oil India Limited in Assam alongside agreeing a five-year partnership for the systems.

Oil India and 3t

Oil India Limited’s vision is to become a leading and future ready integrated energy company committed to sustainable energy security of India through performance excellence. To achieve this operational efficiency, Oil India Limited will soon be embarking on the integration of the DrillSIM:5000 Classic and Cyber models, strengthening its workforce by integrating highly immersive learning technologies that will transform their training capabilities, such as coiled tubing, wireline, and snubbing operations.

The DrillSIM:5000 Classic provides hands-on experience in a realistic rig floor setting, from handling well control situations to dealing with equipment malfunction. The classic model is the global standard of advanced drilling and well control simulation.

The accurate representation of a conventional rig floor and 3D graphics create a highly realistic and immersive simulation environment bringing the rig to the trainee, in a safe and controlled learning environment.

The DrillSIM:5000 Cyber provides versatile and affordable drilling and well control simulation. The cyber controls and 3D quad-screen graphics create a highly realistic and immersive simulated environment of a modern rig with joystick controls.

Both simple and highly complex tasks and scenarios can be recreated to verify skills and competency in real-world situations and will be delivered to the Oil India Limited in partnership with 3t Drilling Systems’ in-country partner, Siam Services India.

This new contract – which was won after being selected as the preferred vendor of choice – will strengthen 3t’s network of collaborators in South Asia reinforcing 3t Drilling Systems’ commitment to providing the highest-impact training solutions that meet international standards to enhance safety and efficiency throughout drilling operations globally.

Set for installation in Q3 of 2025, the 3t Drilling Systems team who developed this collaboration are confident that integrating the technology will positively impact the future of drilling training at Oil India Limited.

Clive Battisby, Senior Vice President of 3t’s technology businesses including 3t Drilling Systems said: “Our goal is to support Oil India Limited in developing a highly skilled workforce equipped with the latest drilling technologies, ultimately contributing to safer and more efficient drilling operations.
